Revising Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Resurrection—I Was Leaving Story on the Table

I’m well into the first revision pass on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Resurrection. The first draft fell well below my desired word count, and I think my biggest problem was ’show, don’t tell.’ There was a lot of exposition that needed to be turned into dialogue and action sequences. Also, I needed to expand on one of my antagonists. He just needed more scenes. Also, the main character arc focuses on Donatello and his development throughout the story needed to be fleshed out more.

The big thing was not word count for word count’s sake, but what the word count signified: I was leaving story on the table.
